Oakwood Retreat Center Covid-19 Policies

As it has always been, the safety and security of our guests and employees remains our highest priority. We are doing everything we can to ensure your safety and provide maximum flexibility as the situation around novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve. The information below outlines some of the ways in which we are working to give you peace of mind, amid the novel Coronavirus spread.

Oakwood Retreat Center respectfully requests:


Anyone who knowingly has been exposed to COVID-19 or lived with someone who has had COVID-19 during the 14 days prior to the start date of a retreat may not attend the retreat.


Guests who have entered the U.S. after travel abroad within 14 days of the start date of a retreat may not attend the retreat.


Any issues involving credits or reimbursements stemming from not being able to attend a retreat for any reason need to be resolved using the facilitator’s payment and cancelation policies.


How we are protecting you?
All retreats will be limited to 21 rooms which will allow maximum distance among individuals. Guest rooms will be allowed to rest for 72 hours between retreats.

Guest rooms will be cleaned using a three-step protocol that includes two applications of a CDC- approved cleaning solution.

Linens will be cleaned using a commercial grade solution (Basic G) and high heat.

Common areas will be cleaned each day of the retreat and immediately after the retreat ends.
Temperatures will be checked daily for all guests, staff, and volunteers.

Oakwood staff will serve meals to all guests, limiting contact with buffet utensils.


The implementation and effectiveness of the above framework of measures will be monitored and evaluated on a regular basis and will be updated and modified if needed, following the guidelines of the appropriate health authorities.


Social Distancing
Maximum of 4 people in kitchen working at a time with staggered workstations.

Use of signage in public spaces to remind guests to maintain social distancing protocols.

Removal or re-arrangement of furniture to allow more space for distancing; seating arrangements in dining hall will meet social distancing guidelines.

Several outdoor dining areas are also available.
Hand sanitizer will be provided in all guest areas and dining hall.
Guests must always wear masks when social distancing is not possible due to the nature of the activities they are engaged in.
Signage will be posted reminding delivery drivers of our distancing protocols.

Signage will be posted stating that no one with a fever or symptoms of COVID-19 is allowed entry to guest areas and dining hall.

Doors to the kitchen will remain closed during serving times.

Entry to the kitchen by guests is not permitted. Should a guest need something they should speak with the facilitator of their event
and the facilitator can contact the Oakwood Retreat Center host-person.


Cleaning and Sanitation
We will be using extra bus tubs in the dish line with a bleach solution that will sanitize dishes before being put through the dish washer.

The entire dining area and its furnishings will be thoroughly sanitized between meals.

The entire facility will be thoroughly sanitized between retreats.
All door handles and other frequently touched areas are cleaned carefully several times throughout the day.

Masks and gloves will be available to guests.


Employee Personal Health and Hygiene
Education and training will be required of employees upon the new protocols of hygiene & safety against Covid-19 based upon CDC and Indiana guidelines.


Employees who are sick are not permitted to work.

If an employee becomes ill or presents signs of illness, the kitchen manager will be responsible to identify the signs during a pre-work screening and then follow CDC minimum guidelines of self-isolation from the time of first symptoms and be symptom free for at least 3 days without medication before returning to work.

Employee temperatures will be taken daily. Those with a temperature above 100° F will be asked to leave.

All employees will be required to wear a face mask while working which will be supplied by Oakwood Retreat Center.

All employees will be trained in correct handwashing procedures.

There will be no eating by staff or guests in the kitchen.
